Yalda, The celebration of sunrise

A gift from the universe to value the moments!

Celebrating Yalda Night is one of Iranians’ time-honored traditions. Spending the longest night of the year in good company of family members and loved ones, and reaching the first sun rise of the winter, is the most significant concept of the night. The longer and colder following days, since Yalda, are meant to be spent with warmth and sympathy inspired by Yalda celebration.

Yalda Night starts with the last day of fall’s sunset and longs till the first sunrise of winter.

Iranian families celebrate the night getting together and having delicious dinner along with tasty nuts and fruits. They listen to stories and legends and read poems, the most common of which are Hafiz poems. Among fruits, also, watermelon and pomegranate are inseparable features of Yalda Night. Having nuts also is one of Yalda traditions.

From now on, we are having longer nights and shorter days.
